Black and Spiro

Brisbane-based interior designer Anna Spiro has attracted an international base of devoted fans with her warmth and infectious passion for beautiful things.  Not afraid of pretty rooms, she has a sincere love for textiles and vintage furnishings, and she is known for bringing that enthusiasm to her client’s projects, both big and small.

Although still in her very early thirties, Anna has been working in design for over fourteen years. Immediately after completing her studies she began working for an established Brisbane interior designer, soon taking over the reigns to build the boutique business known today as
Black & Spiro.

As a young wife and mother, family ties are important to Anna so she runs her business where her roots are in Brisbane.  Clients seem to appreciate her emphasis on family life. Rather than discard a client’s prized possessions and personal history in favour of trendy pieces, Anna typically reinvents or repurposes things. She enjoys the challenge. Vibrant fabrics are used to bring new life to dated furniture, and finished interiors have layers of meaning.

In 2006, Anna launched a successful design blog that has garnered praise from The Washington Post, Martha Stewart, Domino, Real Living, and the blogs Style Court, Miss Gracious Living, and Design Sponge, as well as other media outlets.
